DEPOWA president rewards school teachers for excellent service

The President, Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs Oghogho Musa, has rewarded some teachers and staff of DEPOWA Daycare Nursery, Primary and Secondary School, for excellent and long service.

The awards were presented during the Speech and Prize Giving Day of the school on Saturday, at Mogadishu Cantonment, Asokoro Abuja.

Musa said the awards, which include cash and appliances, were given to some members of staff and teachers who have served in the school for between 10 to 15 years.

“I must take a moment to express our deepest appreciation to the Commandant and our exceptional staff who have worked tirelessly over the years to provide the students with a nurturing, inspiring and intellectual stimulating environment for learning.

“You have been their guide and mentors who have invested time and expertise in helping the students grow both academically and personally.

“We hereby recognise your unwavering commitment and dedication to the success of our students,’’ she said.

Musa said the graduation ceremony marked a significant milestone in the journey of the students.

She added that they had conquered challenges, embraced growth and emerged as shining examples of what could be achieved through hard work and perseverance.

“As you begin a new chapter in your lives, I urge you to reflect on the valuable lessons you have learnt within these walls and remember that education extends beyond your text books.

“The development of your character will determine your success in life.

“To my graduating students, you should know that character stands for: Remember that education is a lifelong journey, not a destination. The knowledge and skills you have acquired will serve as a foundation for future successes.

“As you move forward, embrace challenges, be curious and never stop learning. Develop a growth mind-set and always strive for excellence,’’ she said.

Musa thanked the parents for trusting the school, adding that their guidance and sacrifices have played a vital role in shaping their character and provided the foundation for their success.

She also thanked the First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, for her motherly inspiration and continuous guidance and her husband, the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, for his support.

According to her, her husband remains resolute in ensuring the provision of quality education in DEPOWA Daycare Nursery, Primary and Secondary School and DEPOWA activities.

The Commandant of the school, Maj. Samuel Buzugbe, said the students during the session, engaged in several learning activities within and outside the school environment that shaped them towards becoming well informed personalities for positive impacts.

Buzugbe said that a total of 128 pupils graduated in the lower and upper primaries on July 24, while a total of 41 in the secondary school graduated on Saturday.

He encouraged the graduating students to justify the huge investments bestowed on them both by their parents and the management of DEPOWA School.

He challenged them to put to use the skills and knowledge acquired from subjects offered such as entrepreneurship courses inclusive, during the period of the 6-year as they aspired higher in life.

“In your quest for higher degree always remember your family looks forward to a successful graduation ceremony from the institution of choice.

“Bear in mind that the choices and decisions you settle for could make or mar your future.

“I wish you well in the new phase of life journey that has begun today. Stay positive, focused and always be determined to succeed,” he said.
