The Commander, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), Maj.-Gen. Folusho Oyinlola, on Tuesday, held a strategic meeting with critical stakeholders in Bokkos Local Government Area to ensure peaceful farming season in the locality.
Speaking at the event, which took place in Bokkos, Oyinlola said the meeting was meant to discuss ways to achieve a peaceful and successful farming season.
He said the move was part of the military’s non-kinetic approach toward achieving lasting peace in the state.
He said that the meeting provided an avenue for the stakeholders to rob minds toward finding solution to the lingering security challenges in the area.
“This engagement is timely as the farming season approaches.
It affords us the opportunity to reflect toward ensuring that peace reigns in our communities.
“Security of lives and property is key and as the farming approaches, it is important that we consolidate on the gains of the past.
“Security is the cornerstone that brings steady growth and development to any society and farming is part of this growth.
“Last year, we recorded a successful farming season and this is due to similar engagements.
“This is why we are here to again remind ourselves of the need to do more this year,” Oyinlola said.
He promised that his men would be fair, just and professional in the discharge of their constitutional duties.
He called on the residents of the area to eschew violence and embrace peaceful coexistence.
Speaking, Gov. Caleb Mutfwang, commended the commander for organising the meeting.
Mutfwang, represented by his Special Adviser on Special Duties, Mr Istifanus Mwansat, promised to support the military and other security agencies in their quest for a peaceful Plateau.
He said that his government would do everything possible to ensure that lasting peace returned to all parts of the state
