The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed the death of four people in a lone accident involving an articulated vehicle in Kogi.
The FRSC also said that two persons were severely injured in the accident.
The FRSC Sector Commander in Kogi, Mr Samuel Oyedeji, confirmed the incidence to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lokoja on Tuesday.
Oyedeji attributed the accident to speed and brake failure.
He said that the victims were all passengers of the ill fated truck.
The sector commander said the fatal accident occurred around 19.20p.m. of Monday, opposite the Produce, Falele along the Lokoja-Okene road, where the truck crashed into the concrete road divide.
Oyedeji said that when the accident occurred, the FRSC received a distress call and immediately sent a rescue team to the scene.
“Unfortunately, four people were already dead when we got there while two others sustained serious injuries and bruises.
“The two persons who sustained fractures were rescued and rushed to the Honey Gold Hospital for medical attention.”
He further disclosed that corpses of the dead were taken to the mortuary of the Federal Teaching Hospital Lokoja.
Oyedeji appealed to motorists to avoid excessive speed and always endeavour to check the condition of their vehicles, especially their brakes before embarking on a journey.
