A retired Brigadier General Harold Udokwere has been reportedly killed by gunmen during a home invasion at his Abuja residence on Sanga Street, Sunshine Homes, near Kabusa Junction in Lokogoma.
The attackers, demanding jewelry, money, and other valuables, also injured a neighborhood guard. Udokwere was rushed to the National Hospital Abuja, where he was pronounced dead.
The FCT Police Commissioner, CP Benneth Igweh, has initiated a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
In a statement, Police Command spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh said, “The armed robbery resulted in the tragic death of Brigadier General Uwem Harold Udokwere (rtd.) on June 22, 2024, around 3:00 a.m.”
Offering deep condolences, CP Benneth Igweh promised swift justice, assuring both the family and the public that every effort is being made to apprehend the culprits.
He also reiterated the police command’s commitment to enhancing security in the capital by continuously updating strategies to address emerging criminal threats.
The police chief however assured the public of further updates as investigation progresses.
