Be patient with Tinubu’s reforms, NSCDC boss to Nigerians

Dr Ahmed Audi, Commandant-General (CG),  Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has urged Nigerians to be patient with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reforms.

Audi said this on Tuesday during the opening ceremony of a five-day training for senior officers of the NSCDC in Abuja.

The training was tagged “Common Ground Approach, Early Warning and Response to Conflict”.

He appealed to citizens to appreciate the reforms by the president and follow the government closely while praying for the nation.

“We need to have some patience and follow very closely the economic policies put in place as in no distant time the country will be back on its foot.

“It is not easy for someone to inherit an almost battered institution; as the saying goes, ‘it is very easy to destroy but very difficult to rebuild.

“We are so lucky to have a true democrat as our president, from his antecedents he has passed through the crucifix of democracy and has passion for the nation,”Audi said.

According to the CG, the corps has a seamless relationship with other security agencies especially in the area of training of personnel.

He said that the ongoing training of the corps’ management officers was germane to the corporate development of the agency.

“Discipline starts from training and so we must harness and leverage on the experience of training if we want to move forward,” CG said.

Audi urged the participants to listen, concentrate, share experiences and try to cascade all learnt during the training to their subordinates.

Earlier in her welcome address, Search for Common Ground, Country Director, Fatima Abubakar said that the training was aimed to train the officers on how to detect and address emerging conflicts in the country.

The country-director, represented by the organisation’s Director of Programmes, Gift Owonipa, said that the nation is faced with an urgent need for innovative and sustainable solutions.

“Through this training, you will be exposed to real world scenarios and techniques that will equip you to de-escalate tensions and promote constructive engagements within communities.

“The Early Warning Early Response (EWER) component will equip you with the requisite skills to identify, analyze, and respond swiftly to emerging threats before they spiral into a full-blown crisis.

“You will gain insights into the processes of data gathering, analysis, strategic communication and response planning which seeks to position the NSCDC as a leading force in Nigeria’s security and peacebuilding landscape,” Abubakar said.

Abubakaar applauded the resilience and courage of NSCDC personnel in the face of adversity especially in ensuring the safety of lives and property.
