Mutfwang tasks new GOC on professionalism, impartiality

Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau has advised Maj.-Gen. Folusho Oyinlola, the new General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Rukuba, near Jos, to be professional and impartial in the discharge of his duties.

Mutfwang gave the advice when the new GOC, who doubles as the Commander, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), visited him on Tuesday in Jos.

The governor particularly called on the new senior military officer to use his wealth of experience toward ending the circle of violence in the state.

“I welcome you to Plateau; we are elated when we heard the news of your posting to our dear state.

“I commend your predecessor for putting his best toward ensuring the safety of lives and property of our people during his tour of duty in Plateau.

“I want to urge you to reset the state to the true home of peace and tourism that it is known for,”he

Earlier, Oyinlola promised to discharge his duties to the best of his abilities.

He also assured the governor that he would improve on the successes recorded by his predecessor toward ensuring a peaceful and tranquil Plateau.

” I must say that my predecessor did an excellent job toward ensuring that Plateau is  safe and peaceful.

“I have been extensively briefed on the situation on ground and I will not rest on my oars to ensure that the current peace is improved upon.

“I pledge to be fair and just to all, but I will equally be firm; I will run an open door policy and ensure that things are done the right way,”he said

Oyinlola, who regretted the recent tension that erupted in Mangu Local Government Area (LGA), called on residents of the state to eschew violence and embrace peace.

The GOC, who said that he had interacted with stakeholders from the conflict prone areas, promised that the security challenges in the state would soon end.
