Police arraign man for allegedly causing grievous hurt

The Police on Thursday arraigned a 39 year-old man, Hudu Ahmed, at a Kano Sharia Court for allegedly causing grievous hurt.

The defendant, who lives at Zangon Dakata Quarters, is facing a count charge of criminally causing grievous hurt.

The Prosecuting Counsel, Zahradeen Abubakar, told the court that one Salisu Ibrahim, who is  the complainant, of same address reported the matter at Fagge Police Station on Jan. 27.

He alleged that on the same day at about 4:45p.m., the complainant went to the defendant shop to ask for the balance of the N100,000 he earlier lend to him.

“In the process, the defendant got angry, which later led to a fight and the defendant pushed the complainant out of the shop, beat and tore his cloth.

“As a result, the complainant sustained grievous injury on his right hand and waist,” he said.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 158 and 165 of the Penal Code.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Judge, Malam Umar Lawal-Abubakar, ordered the remand of the defendant in a correctional centre until the next adjourned date.

Lawal-Abubakar adjourned the matter to Feb. 26 for mention.
