The Police Command in Kaduna State, said its operatives has apprehended four suspected armed robbers, two kidnappers and recovered 50 rustled cattle in Kaduna.
The Spokesperson of the Command, DSP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Tuesday in Kaduna.
Hassan said, “On Jan. 19, 2025, at 6:30am acting on credible intelligence regarding the activities of a notorious armed robbery syndicate, a team of detectives, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Samaru-Zaria, launched an operation in Zango and Hayin Jarumai areas of Samaru-Zaria, which resulted in the arrest of four suspects.”
He listed the suspects as Abubakar Alkamu, Ahmed Lama, Hassan Isah and Umar Abubakar.
Hassan explained that during a search in the residence of the third suspect, Isah, officers were able to recover a dagger, suspected to have been used in carrying out the criminal activities of the syndicate.
“All four suspects confessed to their involvement in various robbery incidents, and a manhunt is currently underway to apprehend other members of the gang and its leaders who are in possession of the Arms of the group,” he said.
He disclosed that on same Jan. 19, at about 10:00pm acting on credible intelligence, a team of detectives led by DPO of Jere conducted a coordinated operation in Jere town, in Kagarko Local Government Area of the state
“This operation led to the successful arrest of two suspected Kidnappers, identified as Abubakar Ahmadu ‘M’, a native of Mayo Belwa and Shehu SNU ‘M, from Tango all in Adamawa state.
“The Command is still on the trailed of other gang members, ” he said.
Hassan disclosed that during the operation, three mobile phones and the sum of ₦158,600 were recovered from the suspects as exhibits.
He added that upon interrogation, both suspects confessed to being members of a notorious gang responsible for terrorising the Abuja-Kaduna axis.
Hassan also disclosed that on Jan. 20, at about 2:30am a distress call, intercepted by the DPO of Hunkuyi Division, reported that an unspecified number of armed men had invaded a residence in Dandako Village and rustled about 50 cows.
“Acting promptly, the division patrol team mobilised to the scene and pursued the suspects towards Marke Village.
“This led to an exchange of gunfire, during which the superior firepower of the police, forced the suspects to abandon the stolen cattle and flee into nearby bushes.
“Efforts are underway to comb the surrounding areas for the possible arrest of the fleeing suspects, “Hassan said.
The PPRO said the State Commissioner of Police, (CP) Rabiu Muhammad, commended the officers for their bravery, courage and the use of intelligence led policing in executing the operations.
He said the CP stressed further that the command would continue to synergies with the military, other security agencies and the communities to achieve its desired objectives.
He further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police, emphasising the importance of community cooperation in combating crime across the state.
