By Augustine Aminu

A non-governmental organisation, Global Peace Movement International, UK has commended the achievements recorded by the current chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede

This was contained in a press statement signed and made available to newsmen by the president General, Dr Mike Uyi in Abuja.

The statement further stated that soon after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Olukoyede as chairman of the commission in 2023, the fight against corruption received a boost which is evident and very transparent for all to see.

Uyi specifically commended the EFCC Chairman, Olanipekun Olukoyede, for going after corrupt public office holders not minding their political affiliations.

He called on President Bola Tinubu to provide the necessary backing to the EFCC in its herculean task to bring corruption to an end in Nigeria.

According to him, the chairman of EFCC is doing a good job and should be supported in order to succeed.

He said, “This is the first time we have seen the commission going after members of the ruling party who misappropriated public funds while in office.

The entire members of GPMI are calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to provide the necessary support to the commission towards dealing with this monster called corruption.”

Uyi further said prioritizing high-impact cases, has restored public trust and that alone will strengthen the EFCC as an institutions, and has also ensure leadership that saves enough funds for healthcare, education, and infrastructure.

He concluded that EFCC chairman’s determination to confront corruption is commendable and  urged him to remain steadfast in his pursuit of verifiable cases.
