The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra Command, says it has deployed 250 personnel to complement NSCDC, Edo Command, for Saturday’s election.
Commandant Maku Olatunde made the announcement in a statement by the Head of Media and Tactical Operations, SC. Edwin Okadigbo, on Friday in Awka.
Maku said that the deployment was in line with the directive of the Commandant-General, Dr Ahmed Audi.
He urged the personnel to uphold neutrality and professionalism during the election.
“I must warn that your role in Edo state is to ensure a peaceful exercise. Do not compromise on the field, be transparent, but firm in discharging your duties.
“You are to operate within the code of conduct. Have it at the back of your mind that any act that could bring the Corps to disrepute would not be tolerated,” he said.
The Commandant urged the electorate to troop out in their numbers to exercise their franchise without fear of intimidation or molestation.
He also urged residents to promptly report crime or any electoral offence they observed to law enforcement agents nearest to them.
