Buratai’s Leadership Ignites Hope: Fire Service Commends Ex-Army Chief’s Visionary Approach to Fire Safety

The Comptroller General of the Federal Fire Service has endorsed the appointment of former Chief of Army staff, Lieutenant General Yusuf Buratai (rtd) to spearhead the awareness campaign on fire emergencies. Speaking through his representative, Suleiman Anas, Deputy Comptroller of Fire, he lauded the selection of General Buratai, stressing that fire safety is a shared responsibility that demands a united effort.

He advised Nigerians to be vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect themselves and their properties from fire hazards. The Comptroller General expressed confidence that General Buratai’s leadership in the campaign and Fire Prevention Week and Expo would significantly mitigate fire incidents in Nigeria.

General Buratai, a highly decorated war hero and accomplished leader, was officially unveiled on Tuesday in Abuja as the Chairman of the Fire Prevention Week and Expo, and NIHA’s flagship program in the United States. This distinguished appointment acknowledges General Buratai’s exceptional leadership qualities and his commitment to driving positive change.

Buratai will be supported in the Fire Prevention campaign by a team of distinguished individuals, including:
Chief Morgan Okwoche, retired Managing Director of Gas Aggregation Company of Nigeria, a subsidiary of NNPCL and Other notable Nigerians with expertise in fire safety and prevention

Together, they will leverage their collective expertise and experience to drive the campaign’s objectives and make a meaningful impact on fire safety in Nigeria.

Dr. Kletsaint Akor, Chairman of NIHA has lauded General Buratai’s appointment, highlighting his “impeccable pedigrees, unwavering integrity, and selfless dedication to Nigeria”.

Akor has disclosed that the upcoming fire expo, led by General Buratai, will bring together the globally recognized National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and Nigerian fire professionals and businessmen. This collaboration aims to enhance fire safety measures, improve response strategies, and promote international best practices.
