The Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Nigerian Army has called for synergy with other security agencies and the public to achieve effective leadership within its command at peace and war times.

The TRADOC Commander, Maj.-Gen. Kevin Aligbe, made the call on Tuesday in Minna, when he declared open a four-day workshop on doctrine and combat development leadership for officers and soldiers.

“You will agree with me that the Nigerian Army requires collaboration with other relevant partners, if we are to benefit from the emerging global trend as regards effective leadership.

“It is important to note that appropriate superior authority holds you in high esteem to optimally key into this leadership package, to bolster or enhance your leadership skills, both in peace and war times,” he said.

Aligbe said that the workshop was one of the main scheduled training activities of TRADOC for this year.

He also said that the training was coming at a time when all efforts in the command philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, were geared toward transforming the Nigerian army into a professionally responsive force.

“This is necessary in transforming the Nigerian army into a well-trained, equipped and highly motivated force, towards achieving our constitutional responsibilities within a joint environment.

“This command’s philosophy is being pursued vigorously, hence this workshop on leadership is seen as a platform to actualise it,” he said.

The TRADOC boss said the workshop was also aimed at enhancing abilities and capabilities of officers and soldiers operating within a joint environment.

He also said that the exercise would provide valuable tools and strategies for effective team management.

He thanked Lagbaja for providing the resources and facility for the training.

Also, the Chief of Doctrine and Combat Development, TRADOC, Maj.-Gen. Jamin Jimoh, said the workshop would expose the participants to the Nigerian army’s experiences in tackling insurgency.

A resource person, Dr Ehiz Odigie-Okpataku, spoke on the psychology and traits of a leader, different challenges of a leader, and how to tackle the challenges.
