The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps in Rivers, Corps Commander Inyang Umoh, says he will rejig the command’s operational modus for greater efficiency.
Umoh made the promise on Tuesday in Port Harcourt shortly after assuming office as the new Sector Commander of the corps in the state.
According to him, the command will rejig its operational activities and ensure prompt rescue operations in the state.
He further promised to collaborate with all the sister security agencies and relevant stakeholders in ensuring safety of the people.
Umoh said that one of the visions of the agency is to eradicate road traffic crisis in Nigeria.
He said that the command would continue to sensitise the people on ways to ensure safety on the roads.
He appealed to motorists to drive carefully and always obey traffic rules and regulations in order to stay alive.
The state FRSC chief said that the command would continue to support efforts to maintain the peace in the state.
He lauded his predecessor, Christopher Kuje, for restoring electricity to the command and maintaining good relations with the corps personnel and stakeholders, among other achievements.
Umoh promised to build on Kuje’s achievements and enhance the command’s partnership with critical stakeholders and carrying every staff along for greater and better result.
He urged the operatives to contribute their own quota to the success and progress of the sector.
Eailier, the former sector commander thanked the operatives for their cooperation and support during his service in the state.
Kuje described his one year stay in Rivers as memorable, adding that he enjoyed cordial relationship with both the members of staff and other stakeholders in the state.
He urged the operatives to give maximum support to the new sector commander and pledged to be of assistance to the command at any given time.
He also advised Umoh to carry every staff member and the stakeholders along to achieve success.
In a speech, Mr Oluchi Chinagorom, the National Secretary, Petroleum Tanker Drivers, branch of Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas, thanked Kuje for fostering peace, love and unity among the stakeholders during his stay.
Chinagorom appealed to the new sector commander to sustain the good legacy built by his predecessor.
In a remark, Corps Martins Abiahu, the Unit Commander, Rivers 61.6 Obi-Akpor Unit Command, who spoke on behalf of other unit Commanders, thanked Kuje for his fatherly advice and encouragement to all the unit Commanders, which he described as key to their success.
Abiahu said that the unit commanders were ready to work with the new sector commander to achieve success.
He appealed to him to take them as his children, saying that it would help them to achieve greater success in the sector.
