Speaking at the launch of the programme, the Zonal Coordinator of  Zone ‘B’, ACG Samba Dangaladima, said the sensitisation programme was held to enhance legitimate trade and ease business in communities.

“It is meant to educate and equip officers and men in the zone, to prepare for the implementation of procedures and concept of advance ruling.

“This programme will help to achieve legitimate trade  facility and bring ease of doing business in business community.

“The agenda of the present administration is to build capacity of officers and men of service, through continued training, to enhance knowledge and behaviour of officers.

“This will enable officers perform their duties effectively in line with international best practices.” he said.

The advance  ruling system, he said, was one of the customs procedures captured in Nigeria Customs Service ACT 2023 section 24 (sub-section one -nine), which equally align with article three of World Trade Organisation (WTO) trade facilitation.

“It is also a measure in which NCS provides a legally-binding decisions on importers’ request, regarding classification, valuation and origin of goods before they are imported”, he said.
