The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says its patrol is undergoing revolution, leveraging technology to digitalise the operations through the use of body cameras and the introduction of the FRSC App.
The FRSC Corps Marshal, Malam Shehu Mohammed disclosed this in his address to mark the 37th anniversary of the corps on Tuesday in Abuja.
Mohammed said that the use of technology had revolutionised the corps’ patrol operations, making it easier for the FRSC to respond to emergencies and provide services to the public.
He said that the corps had recently achieved a major milestone in harmonising the Marshals ranking, which had brought about a sense of unity and cohesion among the personnel.
“This achievement is a result of our collective efforts, and I am grateful to everyone who has contributed to this success.
“In addition to these achievements, we have also established electronic documents in FRSC, which has improved our operational and administrative efficiency leading to reduced paperwork.
“We have also commenced the process of adorning staffers who have put in 15 years and above with laurels, in recognition of their dedication and service to the corps.
“Also, among the achievements of this present administration, we have concluded plans for the establishment of a home-grown Health Maintenance Organisation (HMO), which provides affordable healthcare services to our personnel and their families.
“This initiative is part of our efforts to improve the welfare of our staff and promote a healthy work environment,” he said.
Mohammed said that in ensuring the safety and security of FRSC formations and personnel, the corps was influencing the conclusion of the Bill by the National Assembly on the need for FRSC armed squad to bear Arms.
According to him, the amendment to the FRSC (Establishment) Act 2007 is ongoing.
Mohammed expressed gratitude to all stakeholders, including the federal government, state governments, and the private sector, for their support and collaboration.
“As we look to the future, we are committed to embracing new technologies and innovations that will enhance our operations and improve road safety.
“We will also continue to prioritise the welfare and training of our staff, ensuring that they have the skills and resources needed to excel in their roles.
“I would like to reiterate our commitment to making Nigerian roads safer and more responsible.
“We will continue to work tirelessly to achieve this goal and we invite all stakeholders to join us on this journey,” the FRSC boss said.
