*Motorcycle thief arrested in Jema’a local government area
Troops under the auspices of Operation Safe Haven reported an attack by cattle rustlers around the boundary of Apinbu in Atyap Chiefdom, and Ungwan Pah in Ikulu Chiefdom, both in Zangon Kataf local government area.
According to the report, the troops on, responding to information of the attack, arrived the area and found one burnt motorcycle at the location. On sighting the troops’ advance, the bandits fled the area with two stolen motorcycles, abandoning 47 cows.
The recovered cows have been taken into the troops’ custody, while investigations proceed on their actual owners.
In a separate incident, troops of Operation Safe Haven reported the arrest of one Simon Augustine in Kukum Daji, Jema’a local government area, for attempting to rob another resident, Matthew Istifanus, of his motorcycle.
According to the report, the arrested suspect assaulted his victim in a bid to disable him by hitting him on the forehead with a hammer.
The victim is receiving treatment in hospital, while the suspect is in police custody for preliminary investigations.
Receiving the report, Governor Nasir El-Rufai commended the troops for their vigilance and spirited patrols in the general area. He encouraged them to sustain their efforts towards tracking the rustlers in Zangon Kataf local government area, and wished the assaulted victim in Jema’a local government area a quick recovery.
Investigations into the incidents are in progress.
