Lockdown: Kaduna police intercepts truck loaded with 91 passengers, goats and other items

Officers and men of the Kaduna state command of the Nigeria Police on Friday intercepted a truck with 91 passengers, 24 goats and 14 motorcycles along Rigasa in Igabi local government area officers and of the state.

The truck with registration number DDM 167 AX was said to be heading to Lagos from Zaria, according to the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Jalige, an Assistant Superintendent of Police who made the disclosure in a statement released on Friday. He said the driver of the truck and all the passengers have been taken into isolation in line with covid-19 guideline.

Jalige said the command has instituted an investigation into the matter with a view to prosecuting the offenders, according to the state Quarantine Law.

“The driver of the truck violated the restriction order on interstate non-essential movement by concealing 91 passengers, 24 goats, 14 motorcycles and 30 bags containing different items.

“However, the passengers have been rescued and investigation into the matter has since commenced with the view to prosecuting the offender in accordance with Kaduna State Quarantine Law,” he stated.
