…For No One Deserves Your Trust, Not Even Your Shadow

By Abdullahi O Haruna Haruspice

Let me tell you the story of this woman and these three guys, her name was Mrs Nnenna Ogbonna, 55, widowed but now late! She was murdered by her tribesmen inset. They lured her to their house somewhere in Abuja called Wumba, drugged her , rapped her and snuffed life out of her. She shared same faith with them, she trusted them as her tribesmen yet they ended her life gruesomely and dumped her in a septic tank without the honour of a befitting interment- she was dumped and left to be eaten by sewage maggots!

Such was the fate of this mother of five who left her children to visit one of these evil brothers she met on Facebook. She drove herself to their abode and never return alive. She was brutally murdered and left to rot away undetected. However, for every evil, there is a timeline, her death was discovered by the diligence of the Nigerian Police Force and the body of Mrs Nnenna was discovered in a soakaway pit!

In life, your albatross are those in your life, they could be your family, friends and colleagues. It’s almost rare to fall for the evil plots of strangers, your harm always has a homely trace. The girls raped are usual victims of people they know, those kidnapped are mostly victims of insider collaborations. Your darkened secrets are usually revealed by those you share affinities with – the traducer at home are undeniably more than the ones outside. Guard your tracks for evil looms everywhere including within and around you. You can only trust yourself not even your shadow deserves absolute trust for this shadow still deserts you when it’s dark.

Like Nnenna, she let down her guard for these evil brothers because she felt her tribal brothers whom she shares same faith with can never harm her, she was wrong and today, she laid bare and debased even in death! Sharing affinity with anyone isn’t enough to go to sleep with two eyes closed, if Cain could murder Abel, if Joseph could be sold by his brothers, if Boko Haram could bomb people in the mosque, if bandits could kill hundreds Muslims, please, anyone can harm you. Watch your tracks and depend solely on God, for man is not to be trusted.
